Damn, who cares about fighting the temptation anyway? This weekend, its the New Year, next week it will be something else! Oh trust you me!

Working so hard, every night and day
And now we get the pay back
Trying so hard, saving up the paper
Now we get to lay back
This kind of love is getting expensive
We know how to live, baby
We're luxurious, like Egyptian cotton

And we're so rich in love, we're rollin' in cashmere
Got it in fifth gear, baby
Diamond in the rough is lookin' so sparkly!!!

Chi-CHING!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Tuesday, December 27

Ever noticed how the week between Christmas and New Year is unusually slower that the rest? Somehow, days just slip into 'Slowness' mode where attitudes, actions and events take up a strange subdued tone. But what's not to be missed is the general sense of well-being that is sprinkled over it all. It's almost like the spirit of joy decides to stay back a while...a little less sing-songy and little less intense, but there all the same.
Most people seem to be waiting for something to happen. They probably know nothing is, but there is a sense of slight urgency mingled with lazy complacency.
And in the middle of all that, deadlines don't matter (er, they do, but things either get done or they don't, so life's fine), work can wait a bit and one ends up meeting close friends....if not over a lunch and coffee, at least over an ice cream.

Friday, December 23

Have any of you been watching the Google logo over the last two days? Those who have been, will notice that the cat and mouse and definitely up to something.
The other day, the cat was peeping out of the little opening under the second 'g' and it was handing out a plug to the mouse who was standing there, holding the socket in its hand.
Yesterday, they were yanking at the plug and socket, tying to bring them together.
And today it looks like they're repairing a faulty wire or something.
Hmm...I think they'll put them together and get the lights burning by Christmas!!

Oh and by the way, Merry Christmas, all :)

The sad part about sincere compliments about ones successes? It makes one slow down/stop and begin contemplating the hows and whys of it all...the quality of life and its delicate intricacies.

And then all of a sudden, the compliment becomes a burden.

Thursday, December 15

So it's an early Thursday morning. Boring, boring! So this girl and I generally start talking about music and men and we decide to refresh some of our memories by looking at pictures of some of God's best art. Hehe. So there's James Denton, Keith Urban, Michael Buble, and all the yummy men we letch after. And there's the usual “mmmmmm! Wow! Look at that! Sigh! Damn, just how the f*** do they get made this way!”
That's when a rather conservative (let me not forget married) team member comes in. So the two of us decide to share some of the fun with her. She comes over, putting on her glasses, fixed straight under the 'vibhooti' on her forehead. So we begin showing her the pictures, the sheer pieces of art. Her eyes light up... “Hey, nice no?” she goes.
“You bet, Rajani!”, we go.
Look at this! And this! She flips for Michael Buble. She wants to see all the pictures. Evil grins begin. C'mon, let's see what Michael looks like under his shirt! We find one. He's looks amazing. He is ultra-sexy. She looks at him for a while. Our grins grow more evil. Come, let's look at James Denton. By now the two of us are not looking at the men but at how Rajani is having a nice time. C'mon! She needs something to feast her eyes on too!
R: James who?
Us: Denton. Isn't he like...WHOA, sexy??!
R: yes!
Us: Damn, Rajani you sayin you haven't seen any of these men?
R: No ya! (but she is getting uncomfortable)
Us: Come, let us show you what it's like to have fun!
R: erm...i want to look, but I'm not sure
Us: Why not??
R: ........
Us: Do you ever flirt? Y'know...harmless flirting types?
R: Aiyo! No ya! (but she has a very mischievous twinkle in her eye)
C'mon! How can we stop now??!
F (the other girl): Rajani, c'mon! You're not doing anything wrong! You should try flirting! It's fun!
R: what if my husband comes to know ya?
Me: Aw! C'mon! You won't be doing anything anyways! He sits miles away in some other part of the city!!
R: hmmm....yeah no! It's nice eh!
Us: Oh yeah!

But then all of a sudden, she rolls her chair away.

R: All this is for you young girls.

She wouldn't even look at the pictures of fully clothed men, damn it!!
What's it with some of these married women???!!

Sunday, December 11

Thought:
Money cannot buy you happiness, they say. But money often buys you *peace of mind. And peace of mind is an elementary component of happiness. So...

* (unless you're one of those who has way too much of money and can't take good care of it)

Thought:
Just how much of the emptiness can money fill? Not much.
But if one were loveless and empty, isn't it be better to at least be rich?

Thought:
Is it sensible to opt for love over money? Alright...love mostly distorts your perceptions and makes an emotional jackass out of you. Money and fairly large amounts of it teaches you tough lessons and puts many priorities back into perspective.

So it's like that.

PS: these things hold true for normal people, not power-hungry monsters or politicians.

Wednesday, December 7

I'll never be what you think I am. I'll never be what you thought they all were.

I'll remain a silent alphabet in the words that entice you to appreciation, to love and to insanity.

I'll remain a single syllable you toyed with but didn't add to your sentence.

I'll be the semi colon you chose to ignore.
But I'll be the period that ends your sentence.

I'll be the reality that lies outside your web of words.

I'll be the one to skim over the undecided vowels and write my way out.

Ah words! How they kill me and how I die for them!

Monday, December 5

11 years!! 11 long years of asking around, searching and generally wondering if I was hallucinating, I have FINALLY found a song I've been after. “Just a feeling” by Breeze.
I'll be honest, though. It's definitely not as good as I felt it was when I heard it 11 years ago. It's mushy, it's too slow and the lyrics are downright silly. But hey, I wasn't too clever 11 years ago!
I heard “Just a feeling” all those years ago on TV. Did we have Channel V then? I don't remember. But I remember the video...it was all made in a comforting blue light with silhouettes of the singer holding a guitar, swaying and singing. I got to hear it only a couple of times but it stuck in my head. And since then, I've been searching. Then, 11 years ago, I looked around for audio cassettes, then for CDs, then for DVDs...anything would do!!! 5 years into the search and I began wondering if I'd been hallucinating all the while. C'mon! Not one single person I knew had heard of the artists or the song. No one in my family had ever heard it on TV when I'd heard it, none of my friends remembered anything of it...none of the Djs had heard of Breeze!
But I kept at it for another 6 years. At one point in time, I decided if I had in fact been hallucinating, I'd compose the song and sell it as mine! After all I'd hallucinated it up! Whaddya know! I'm a composer too!
And then! Limewire happened. It brought back to me, things I never thought I'd own. And here I am! “Just a feeling” by Breeze is all mine!!
It's mushy and I haven't managed to listen to it more than twice. But hell, I at least own what I've been looking for, for 11 years!

But over the last 11 years, the only line of the song that I remembered seems to have so much more meaning...
“And if you love somebody else
Will you still pretend you're mine?
Would you leave me like that?
It's just a feeling I have”
