Of nights, sleeping and waking

A cricket made its home in an old shoe lying abandoned at home. And so, for a few weeks then, we had our own little night, chirping us to sleep from the old shoe in a dark corner.

On a warm-ish summer night after a long, warm bath, spend a few long, slow moments in the dark lying on your back and listening to some wonderful music. It’s surprising how alert your senses can become at different times of the day. The mild, raw smell of your own skin, the gentle fragrance from your own hair that brushes against your face and the wafting notes of music are probably of the best therapeutic value.
Last night, I bathed in some warm music that settled as a tingling blanket of notes over me, in rings around my neck, beads around my waist and bells around my ankles.

Mosquitoes have a strange liking for sweet things. So be careful before you choose your night lip moisturizer. Do all you can, but a mosquito will find its way to a silly strawberry or raspberry moisturizer. I’ve been waking up these last few days with a swollen lip. Believe me, bitten lips really hurt.
