Inane banter
Isn’t it fun sometimes to just keep picking at your food? I mean pick and eat as well. Sort of like ‘pick, pick’ – think - ‘pick’ – think - ‘pick’ and then eat. Ok, maybe you can avoid that last pick if you’re in a hurry or if you’re hungry. I’d say keep that last pick because it makes it more… ‘picky’ I think. Picked up picky food. Hmmm
So anyways, muffins are one among the most pickable foods. It’s not food per se, so it’s not a meal (hopefully, unless you’re a keen weight watcher), and muffins just let themselves be picked. Take a fork, dig it straight into the muffin and slant it sideways. The muffin will split in two halves. Repeat same steps with each half and there you go! You have a muffin to pick!
At this point let me remind you that this is not a reference to ‘picking’ muffins like you pick strawberries or even apples. You go strawberry picking, but you don’t go muffin picking! Because like we all know, muffins don’t grow on trees! They grow under the ground, for heaven’s sake! Get your facts right sometime!! Alright, alright, I digressed. So we’re not talking about muffin picking here because we don’t pick muffins like we do strawberries. But we do pick them. You know, from shelves, from trays…hm…
Anyway, doughnuts don’t really count as pickable food. Try it and you’ll realize that there is almost nothing to pick in a doughnut. Doughnuts are definitely not pickable. Because you eat a doughnut…and you eat the doughnut! That’s it. All you’re left with is that hole in the middle, which pretty much counts to nothing without the doughnut around it.
So like I was saying it’s fun to pick at your food and eat it. And it’s best done with a fork. You see, with a fork you ‘pick’ and with a spoon you ‘scoop’ and with a knife…well you end up cutting your tongue. Don’t try eating with a knife.
So while you go searching for a muffin and fork, let me get back to my little meal and pick the living daylights out of it.
Happy picking!
